Bec Ramsay is new to the PLF board in 2024 and has recently started as the Wellington Gardens Manager at Wellington City Council. The Wellington Gardens include the Botanic Garden ki Paekākā, ōtari-Wilton’s Bush Native Botanic Garden, Truby King Park and Bolton Street Cemetery ki Paekākā.
Most of Bec’s career has been in open space and recreation planning, recently doing various pieces of work around planning for parks investment in the context of urban growth and change. She has a particular interest in how the regulatory and legislative systems in New Zealand support investment in parks – both for the sake of the environment and to support people. She has a degree in Landscape Architecture from Lincoln University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies from Victoria University of Wellington and has worked in both the private and public sector in New Zealand and overseas.
Bec is a passionate advocate for the ‘value of parks’ and is always curious about how parks leaders can lead, influence, and contribute to conversations with other professions around how we can come together to tackle some of the biggest challenges we face today and into the future - supporting the natural environment, social cohesion and equity, human health, and climate adaptation.
