Reserves Officer - Horticulture and Ecology

Our offices are based in the growing town of Rolleston which offers a great family lifestyle and is an easy drive away from the ski fields, rivers and hills that make up Canterbury's stunning landscape. We are looking for a well organised and customer focused Reserves Officer to join our friendly and welcoming team.
Our new Reserves Officer will ensure a level of service in the upkeep and maintenance of our reserves and camping areas district wide.
Working alongside our three current Reserves Officers you will be responsible for coordinating maintenance projects, auditing works undertaken by the Reserves Contractor and completing inspections of Council's reserves including camping areas, ecologically significant areas and other properties throughout our diverse district.
You will liaise with property neighbours community groups, contractors and other Council staff, respond to customer service requests and provide input into the development of the reserve maintenance work programmes.
The successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Parks and Recreation, Property or other related area alongside at least three years technical experience working with open space, property or facilities. Ideally you will have proven knowledge or experience managing freedom camping sites, being a great problem solver you will be confident making effective and timely decisions.
We provide service seven days a week to our communities. The hours of work will be rostered and the role will include working every third weekend.
