Dame Jenny Shipley Appointed Chair of Waitangi National Trust

Former Prime Minister Dame Jenny Shipley has been appointed Chair of the Waitangi National Trust Board, succeeding Tania Simpson.

Bringing extensive governance and leadership experience, Dame Jenny will help guide the Trust as it continues to protect and promote the significance of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Her appointment comes as the Trust looks ahead to future milestones and commemorations connected to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The Trust says the appointment reflects its commitment to strong leadership as it continues to honour New Zealand’s history while ensuring Waitangi remains a place of learning, connection, and reflection for future generations.
