$8m investment for Waitangi Treaty Grounds

An important investment has been announced for the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, supporting the preservation, operation and ongoing visitor access of one of Aotearoa’s most significant cultural and historic places.
The funding will help ensure the Grounds can continue to welcome visitors and deliver its cultural, educational and commemorative programmes while looking towards the future.
It’s a timely announcement for the parks sector too. PLF had the privilege of bringing parks professionals together at Waitangi in 2025 for our Wānanga Waitangi Summit and look forward to repeating it in the future, exploring the challenges and opportunities involved in managing places of deep cultural and historic significance.
The investment is a good reminder of the long-term thinking and care required to protect important places while keeping them accessible and meaningful for future generations. Read the full article by NZ Herald here
