IMPORTANT: We need your help: advice requested from SOLGM/ DEPARTMENT OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS (DIA)...What is happening with park closures and park facilities in New Zealand

SOLGM and DIA have reached out to PAMG wishing to provide advice to government and the daily National Health Emergency briefings from government, and to include on the Covid-19 website, on the Parks Sector’s leadership for statements on essential park services.

Amanda has been working with SOLGM’s CEO on parks being fully represented in this briefing.

As we head into a period of isolation the international discussion in parks has been around using this time in parks management to address a backlog of renewal and major maintenance and to allow open space planning to come into its own with recreation activation for isolated individuals. People are still seeking trail experiences or at least walking the dog; and cycling. Meanwhile, parks professionals can continue working on other planning, like acquisition business cases, like the location pictured!

Time perhaps too to reacquaint your self with your garden, vegetable seed propagation prowess, floor exercises, home based pest control, dancing and singing! Or stand up comedy (on line?). Plan for some laughter in your life too.
